In Drift Hunters, what does Turbo PSI do?
To begin, we can see that the tuning menu’s “TURBO” option allows us to modify the turbo pressure (assuming you upgraded the turbo.)
We set it to maximum since we prefer a lot of power, but if you’re just starting started, you might find that decreasing the turbo boost (pressure) makes the car more predictable.
Drift Hunters Turbo PSI do
The fact that the electricity to spin the turbine is not free is one source of inefficiency. The presence of a turbine in the exhaust flow increases the exhaust restriction. This means the engine needs to push against a larger back-pressure on the exhaust stroke. This reduces the power output of the cylinders that are firing at the same time.
One of the most reliable ways to produce more power from an engine is to increase the amount of air and fuel it can burn. Adding cylinders or increasing the size of existing cylinders is one option. When these modifications aren’t possible, a turbo might be a better, more compact option, especially as an aftermarket addition.
Turbochargers allow an engine to burn more fuel and air
By compressing more gasoline and air into the existing cylinders, turbochargers allow an engine to burn more fuel and air. A turbocharger typically provides 6 to 8 pounds per square inch of boost (psi). You can see that you are getting nearly half as much air into the engine because the average atmospheric pressure at sea level is 14.7 psi. As a result, you should expect a 50 percent increase in power. You may only get a 30- to 40% improvement because it isn’t totally efficient.
